I am Celeste van der Merwe from the South Coast of South Africa. A junior school art teacher at St Michaels School encouraged me to develop my talent, and I have loved art ever since. My paintings are inspired by local subject matter and have a spiritual underpinning.
I grew up in Bloemfontein and studied Fine Arts at UFS, UNISA and did a Master’s at DUT. I have 25 years of art teaching experience on Primary to Tertiary levels.
Along with my husband I run Celestial Art Studio where I teach art to students of all ages and phases on their art journey. Each student being a special jewel and adding a unique flavour to the studio.
I have had three one-man exhibitions and have participated in countless group exhibitions.
